ALERTS FOR MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FACULTY, STAFF AND STUDENTS

Spam/Phishing Email

This semester we have seen an increased number of phishing emails attacking our campus. A phishing email attempts to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, passwords and credit card details by masquerading as a trustworthy entity using bulk email, which tries to evade spam filters.

Here are some tips to help keep you and our campus information more secure:

  • Use a strong password.
  • Verify the sender address.
  • Hover mouse over links in message to see if the link is to a different website than the one displayed.
  • Never give out personal information.

The Social Engineering Red Flags document has further information on phishing emails.  Please watch your inbox for a reminder of ongoing cyber security awareness training opportunities for MU faculty and staff.

Millersville University’s Department of IT will never ask for your password.

For questions and concerns, please contact the Help Desk at 717-871-7777 or help.desk@millersville.edu.
