Content Warning: This article contains spoilers for the new ‘Bluey’ mini episodes.
The ever beloved children’s show “Bluey” has done it again with a brand new 14 episodes out now on Disney+. These mini-episodes are even shorter than the normal formula of seven to eight minutes to a short four to five minutes.
The series has also done something amazing with these new episodes, having compilations of the new episodes at the end of each release. Now viewers can watch almost half an hour of new content in one sitting, or just watch individual episodes if they please.
Each episode might be short in time, but is jam packed with great detail and helps dive more into the lives of the Heeler family outside of the previous three seasons. The episodes explore the parents’ past and their own childhoods, introduce newer characters, and see the extended Heeler family apart from the main group, and build more into either Bluey or Bingo’s personalities as the two sisters grow up. From showing parental struggles with raising kids, to fun playtime games that remind older viewers of games they played with their parents, the “Bluey” minisodes are fun-filled shorts for everyone.
One of my favorite episodes of these shorts would have to be “Blocks,” where we see more of the Heeler sisters’ grandparents, Nana and Grandad, and how much the two appreciate and love their grandchildren. It is a good shift in the world building of “Bluey,” and lets the audience know more about the side characters than the main cast.
Though a close second within the mini episodes would have to be “Three Pigs,” where father Bandit tells his own version of the classic fairytale to his daughters before bed. It being a close second favorite as being able to relate when I was a child and having my mom or dad tell me a story before bedtime, jokes being made as the story went on.
Like the rest of the show, these mini episodes tell just more great stories from Ludo Studio about the beloved family from Australia and their adventures. They will be a great little story to watch and help older viewers reminisce on their younger days.
