On Sept. 22, a “Bridgerton” themed ball was supposed to take place in Detroit, Michigan. Two days after the event, one member of the Ton spoke up on X about the scam that took place the night of the event.

In a viral thread on X posted by user @rayleearts, the event coordinating company, Uncle & Me LLC, was exposed for the lies they told while planning a party based on the popular Netflix show, “Bridgerton.”

Originally, this event was supposed to be held sometime in August at Beacon Park in Michigan, but the company claimed the venue they wanted to rent canceled at the last minute due to their inability to hold the supposed number of partygoers. The event was then moved to the Harmonie Club which, in a statement made by Uncle & Me LLC, had a, “combined capacity of 10,000.”

However, a user on TikTok commented on the event, stating that they worked for Beacon Park, sharing that the company actually pulled out of the deal because Uncle & Me LLC refused to pay all of their rent money- catching them in their first of many lies. Also, despite claiming that the original venue could not accommodate the guest list, Channel 7 News in Detroit captured footage of partygoers waiting outside in the rain the night of the event, waiting to get into a clearly overcrowded space.

Inside the actual party- or “ball” as they were calling it- there was not much to do. Uncle & Me LLC had advertised for live music and dancing, which in reality were a singular violinist and a pole dancer who was occupying the dancefloor. The decorations were cheap, being described online as something you could buy at a Party City or Dollar General. Among other things, Uncle & Me LLC did not have enough food for their guests.

It is reported in @rayleearts’ X thread that, “food apparently ran out after an hour, and some was raw. No one was there to pick up plates, so you had to deal with strangers’ leftovers yourself.”

The event had an itinerary that seemed to contradict the events of the evening, and the $300 tickets per person only made the dissatisfaction that much more bitter.

When the creator of the X thread asked for a refund after they could not attend the event due to illness, Uncle & Me LLC did not respond to their, or any other, email asking for money back. While some X users are showing no pity and saying that people should be less gullible- some even joking that they were reminded of the infamous Tumblr “DashCon”-many are showing their sympathy and rallying together in the hopes that this story ends in a lawsuit against Uncle & Me LLC.
