Electronics

One of the reasons I came here to Millersville was to study electrical engineering, and this, combined with a general interest in how electricity works with other things, made me pretty excited for this portion. My experiences with electrical engineering go back a bit, but not super deep. My brother worked as an electrician for a few years and would tell me about things he saw on the job, and in my senior physics class, I sometimes saw leftovers from the section of the class that did electrical stuff.

The beginning activity was fun to figure out, but there was a clear idea in my head of what we were supposed to do. I’m not ashamed to admit I touched the two ends of the wire to see if it would shock me; I can guarantee about half of the guys in the class did too. When it came to the second part, where we all “borrowed” your Idea of making the circuits like cards that turn on the light, I was completely and entirely lost and had to get a step-by-step walkthrough from a friend. But at least we got to design the outside of the card to look like whatever we wanted. I made mine like a star, and it’s planetary nebula.

Overall, this was a fun activity that required a lot more thinking than was allotted for me on that day. I did have this idea in my head that there would be multiple lights, and we could make whatever structure we could with the materials provided, but with what I went through Im Glad we didnt do that.
