So we have a massive update for you guys, unfortunately it starts out with bad news. Korbin and I checked the fish on friday and we lost all 4 of them :'(. So what did we do? Give up? Change to hydroponics? No sir! We bought MORE fish!
25 to be exact. And when we came in monday, we lost 4 more. Are we doing something wrong? Yes and no. Our target pH is around 6.5-6.7 but we can’t seem to keep it below 8. But things are looking up! We checked the pH and it was at 7.8! The first time it’s been below 8! and…. we sprouted! What a good day!
Hey guys! so I’ve looked it up online at http://ccforum.com/content/16/4/R119 and the average ph of fecal matter is 7.14. Therefore, the nutrients produced by the fish are automatically raising the ph. If you already have an automatic fish feeder, maybe there’s a possibility to jerryrig an automatic pH down despencer? 😀
Thanks for the advice Paul! That is definitely something we need to look into.
