The strategies I plan on using for the fall semester are, focusing my attention on the story and what was to be read. I underlined and marked important details and the main idea. I took notes in my notebook, made questions out of things I didnt understand. I went over my notes and studied them after I wrote them so I would know more about what I read and what I wrote down. I made questions out of the title, and headings. I will definitely ask for help when I need it.
Reflecting on my new reading strategies
Some strategies I used while I was reading Dr. Garcia’s class materials are, focusing my attention on the story and what was to be read. I underlined and marked important details and the main idea. I took notes in my notebook, made questions out of things I didnt understand. I went over my notes and studied them after I wrote them so I would know more about what I read and what I wrote down. I made questions out of the title, and headings. Somethings that didnt work for me were relying on context clues to figure out the meanings of the words. I couldn’t do that because if I dont know the word, then the words around it wouldn’t help me. I didn’t make decisions about meanings for words I didnt know for certain because I dont like doing that and it makes me frustrated if I dont know what the meaning is or if I even know what I’m talking about.
Learning Experiences
One learning experience I’ve had in my life is learning how to play soccer. Some steps and responsibilities I had to take in playing soccer were, being patient with my teammates, learning to kick the ball with the inside of my foot, headers and chest shots, learning how to trap the ball, earning different plays and tricks, also learning how to run with the ball. I invested a lot of time into being consistent, dependable and determined to not only my team and coaches but to myself. I had to be at practice at 7 a.m. and we got a break at 9 a.m. then we had to be bad at 3 p.m. until nearly 7 p.m. every night. During the school year if was right after school until my coach decided to let us go, when I got home I always had lots of homework and I struggled to stay awake because I was so tired. If any of our teammates were late then the whole team had to run how ever man minutes they were late. I have had many challenges, when I first began soccer I didn’t really take it serious, so I wasn’t able to play in any o the games until I started taking it serious. I always fought with my team for taking it as a joke. I always had a lot going on , so my mind was never where it should have been. I started taking it serious , so e started having more players able to be subbed out and I played every game. I even had a winning shot in one of my games! Soccer made a HUGE impact in my life, I’m grateful I had the opportunity to participate.
