The Student Memorial Center has been excited to welcome our Marauder community back

The Student Memorial Center has been excited to welcome our Marauder community back to campus in fall 2021, as we once again celebrated the halls being adorned with the sounds of laughter, conversation, music, and events (and even the smells of hot fries and pizza from the Galley!).  Due to the pandemic, nearly 18 months had passed since students filled our corridors with the exciting Marauder energy that has been sorely missed.  Over the last several weeks, thanks to our many campus partners, we’ve welcomed the return of traditional programming in the SMC such as Pridefest and Homecoming, the Involvement Fair, University Open Houses, the Wellness Fair, Hazel I. Jackson Lecture Series, and CHEP’s Purple Carnival.  Student Organizations have also revived their staple programming such as Cooking with Soul (BSU), Fall Fest (UAB), Meet the Greeks (CGC), and more.  Each program returned bigger and better than ever thanks to our community members exercising safe practices by following COVID-19 safety guidelines for each event.

If you have recently ventured through the SMC, you may have noticed a few upgrades within our facility including freshly painted offices and meeting rooms, newly upgraded recycled rubber bulletin boards, updated digital signage for SMC advertising, and even updated branding throughout the building.  While it’s not as noticeable as a fresh coat of paint, the SMC also invested in a major upgrade that included placing all exterior doors on a remote access program that now allows the SMC to lock and unlock a portion, or all, of the facility through a few clicks of the keyboard.  This upgrade will allow us to place the building on various schedules of operation, provide card swipe access for SMC staff, and better monitor the security of the building.

For those looking to host events or programs within the facility, or to learn more about how you can utilize our new digital signage (also known as the Spot) to promote those programs, don’t forget to check out our new website that includes helpful resources and information for faculty, staff, and students.  https://www.millersville.edu/smc/index.php
