It’s been two years since the admissions office experienced a “typical” fall recruitment season. This fall, the team brought back in-person open houses and spent nearly 14 weeks on the road recruiting the next class of Millersville students. Open House programs attracted over 1,000 prospective students and nearly 3,000 visitors total including family members and guests. Visitors had the opportunity to hear from professors, speak with campus service departments, learn about opportunities to get involved on campus, eat in the dining hall, and take a tour of the campus. When surveyed about their experience during open house, 87% of visitors reported they “strongly agree” that Millersville feels like a warm and welcoming community, and 82% of visitors reported they “strongly agree” that they can see themselves attending Millersville.

Fall recruitment travel brought a variety of challenges due to the constantly changing COVID-19 regulations at high schools and community colleges. While the admissions team was able to conduct most visits in person, about 20% of their recruitment time was spent hosting zoom sessions or appointments. During in-person travel, the team completed 354 high school visits, 92 college fairs, 31 instant decision programs and 22 transfer visits.

The hard work of everyone on the admissions team is paying off, as application season is in full swing and more students than ever are submitting applications to Millersville. Since the fall 2022 application opened on July 1, 3,918 new students have submitted applications to Millersville and 2,869 new students have been accepted as members of the Millersville University class of 2026.
