VP Hazlett’s November Message

It is hard to believe this is my last message to the division as your vice president. When I first started here at the ‘Ville in February of 2013, the campus was at a point of transition and transformation. I truly feel MU is at a better place since then, in large part due to the work of SAEM! I want to express my sincere gratitude to you for giving so much of yourself to Millersville and its students, despite the many challenges we have faced.

These challenges have revealed the strength of the Millersville community and more importantly the impact of SAEM. Challenges have the potential to act as obstacles or opportunities and you have chosen the latter. You used those challenges as reminders of just how important our work is. Day in and day out you have worked to make this campus community a vibrant place for students to learn and grow.

Thank you for doing all you can to make this campus a home to our students. Your contributions and creativity, your compassion and willingness to volunteer your personal time on evening and weekends – you are making a difference in the lives of our students! You are empowering them toward their highest goals and potential and you should feel proud of that.

Each day that you choose to come to work and give your heart to our mission, you impact the lives of our learners. Each time you choose to prioritize your mental, emotional, and physical health, you are able to bring the best of your talents back to this community. Each time you invest in the people around you – whether that be your colleagues or the students we serve – you are cultivating an environment ripe for growth and future impact.

Over the past nine years, I have come to view each of you as part of my extended family. I have learned so much from you and I am so proud to have been part of SAEM. I want to thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives and for being part of mine! It has been amazing to serve as your vice president.

Again, thank you for your dedication to Millersville and to every student that steps foot on this campus. I will always remember my time here fondly, and I will miss you.
