Over 1,000 people attended Campus Life events in October

Campus Life is very busy during October with Homecoming, Coming Out Week, Hispanic Heritage Month, and more. In celebration of all that happens in October, here are some highlights sponsored by Campus Life:

October 1. Intercultural Center for Student Engagement Rededication
Dr. Rita Smith Wade-El, a long-time psychology professor and founder of African-American Studies at Millersville University, was honored and celebrated by more than 250 people during the rededication of the Intercultural Center in her honor. Dr. Rita Smith Wade-El was an advocate for marginalized students and social justice.

 

October 5. Hispanic Heritage Month: Who is Who?
There were almost 100 attendees at Who is Who on October 5 to learn about the differences between Hispanic and Latinx countries. A flag display, fast facts about each country, and pastries from these cultures were highlights of the event.

 

October 13. Homecoming/Pride Week kick-off & Homecoming Court Meet & Greet
Nearly 150 members of our Marauder Community attended the Homecoming/Pride Week kick-off to meet the Homecoming Court, cast their vote for Homecoming Royalty, and enjoyed cake. Congratulations to students Domir Kent and Apsara Upretty for being crowned this year’s Homecoming Royalty!

October 14. Marauder Pride Crafternoon
More than 50 students came together to paint and craft Millersville-themed wood art.
 

 

October 15. Coming Out Week: Pridefest & Drag Show
Milersville University hosted more than 600 people at the SMC for a celebration and recognition of the LGBTQIA+ community on campus. All participants received information and resources regarding services offered on and off-campus to help support LGBTQIA people. This year’s Drag Show featured Suga Cain and Silky Nutmeg Ganache from RuPaul’s Drag Season 11 and local drag queen Nevaeha Le’Vixenn.
