By: Jackie Aliotta, Campus Life

The Lead MU student leadership development conference occurred virtually on Zoom on Sunday, September 13, 2020 with 215 Millersville University students in attendance. This is a required conference for the President and Vice President of every SGA recognized student organization and for the first time, all student organization members were invited to attend. Campus Life and the Intercultural Center sponsored Lead MU.

The conference ran from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. including a welcome video from President Wubah, remarks from guest keynote speaker James Robilotta on “Leading Through Uncertainty: Using Authentic Leadership to Navigate Ambiguity”, two welcome/kickoff sessions, and 24 total breakout sessions where students could choose what programs they wanted to attend. Lead by Jackie Aliotta, Coordinator of Student Organizations & Leadership, the Campus Life planning team was really intentional to ensure COVID-2019 relevant topics including:

· How to Run a (Virtual) Meeting (Aly Sehl)
· Student Government Association and You (Ryan Malesic and Anna Donnelly)
· Get Involved 101/How to Better Utilize the Get Involved Platform for Virtual Engagement (Melissa Tineo)

· Creating and Maintaining a Virtual Community within Your Organization (Jackie Aliotta)

A special thanks to all of our presenters (listed above), student leaders and colleagues (Mamie Covell, Anisha Hall), and IT staff (Keston Lyman, Aubrey Laity, Jake Muretic) who assisted us in running the virtual conference. It was truly a group effort and we really appreciate everyone’s help in offering such a wonderful student leadership development conference to our student organization members.
