Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation

Acorn Acres Wildlife Rehabilitation is a grassroots non-profit that rescues injured, displaced, and orphaned wildlife mammals (specializing in squirrels, bunnies, and juvenile groundhogs) in Millersville, Lancaster County, as well as the surrounding counties. Our animal care team, made up of big-hearted, dedicated volunteers, care for these animals while they are being rehabilitated for the safe release back into the wild.

Nearly all these animals come to us as tiny babies! We raise them, teach them life skills, and then reintroduce them back into the wild so that they can do their very important jobs helping our ecosystem.

  • We provide our human neighbors in Lancaster County and surrounding areas with a free resource for these species.
  • To our patients we offer a proper environment (clean, quiet, and predator free) to grow, thrive, and recover with species specific optimal nutrition, as well as veterinary care.
  • To our human neighbors and wild patients we commit to maintain and further our education as we strive to implement the latest technologies and practices.
  • We are 100% volunteer and no one receives a salary. We receive no federal, state, or local funding, and thus we are reliant on the generosity of our community and events like the Extraordinary Give.

In the first 6 months of our doors being opened we assisted 153 animals.

More than 110 of those animals are once again living their wild lives!

We also offer exciting educational programs to community organizations, schools and individuals. Our programs are taught by volunteer teachers and are accompanied by our special educational ambassadors who are non-releasable rescued wildlife. These programs are very impactful and teach how important wildlife and conservation are to the environment.
