Volunteer – Nonprofit Liaison Committee Officer

Summary

  • Volunteer Community Outreach Committee position responsible for establishing and maintaining a positive and impactful relationship with nonprofit organizations that align with Pride’s mission, vision and bylaws in the Lancaster community
  • Acts with respect, dignity and integrity in the best interest of the board and community
  • Liaison between the organization and community who stays informed of current events and happenings and looks for opportunities to serve LGBTQ+ community and nonprofit organizations in Lancaster.
  • Acts as a point of contact for nonprofit organizations while working to uncover and address issues and concerns in the community

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Report to Community Outreach Director
  • Attend and present monthly report at Community Outreach Committee meetings
  • Track and delegate tasks in Trello
  • Track contact and prospect activity in Salesforce
  • Participate in Google chat channels as addressed in a timely manner
  • Respond to email and return phone calls within 2 business days
  • Attend networking events
  • Assist other committee members as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Community relation management – knowledge of a local community’s needs and the ability to interview others to get needed information are essential
  • Conflict resolution – responsible for identifying the root cause of disputes and using negotiation tactics to encourage resolution
  • Public speaking – community liaisons need strong public speaking skills to present at public and private meetings
  • Marketing – must be able to share and promote the organization’s message with our local community while aligning with its mission statement and bylaws
  • Interpersonal skills – a critical duty of building trusting and effective partnerships to facilitate engagement and outreach. Must be able to quickly relate with many different types of people.
  • Administrative skills – perform general administrative duties as assigned
  • Writing skills – creating documentation, written reports and descriptions of needed committee positions
  • Be self motivated and self disciplined to complete tasks and projects
  • Use best judgement, creativity and problem solving, and critical thinking skills

Time Commitment

  • Term: 1 year
  • One virtual committee meeting per month (approx 60 mins)
  • 5-10 hours per week including remote work, virtual meetings and/or attending events
  • Open availability during the two weeks prior to Festival
