Brethren Village Retirement Community is seeking dependable Housekeepers and Housekeeper / Floor Technicians.  Various work schedules are available. Brethren Village continuously practices proper infection control, to help keep our Residents and Team Members safe. Newly-hired Housekeepers are eligible for an up to $1,500 bonus: $750 paid after successful completion of 6 months of employment as a full-time or part-time Housekeeper, and $750 paid after successful completion of 1 year of employment as a full-time or part-time Housekeeper.

The Housekeeper / Floor Technician helps maintain a clean, hygienic, and pleasant environment for Residents, guests, and Team Members of Brethren Village.  The Housekeeper / Floor Technician applies proper cleaning and infection control protocols and procedures while working in our health care areas, independent living facilities, dining areas, offices, common areas, and public restrooms.


Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • thoroughly and efficiently cleaning and/or disinfecting Residents’ apartments and cottages, as well as Residents’ rooms within health care areas
  • dusting, vacuuming, and sanitizing offices and workspaces, conference rooms, hallways, dining areas, and other public-use spaces
  • following standard protocols to thoroughly disinfect and clean commercial kitchens and private and public bathrooms
  • maintaining floors, vacuuming and cleaning using commercial floor cleaning equipment
  • safely cleaning spills, including bodily fluids, according to protocols
  • working in the Laundry Room to help wash, dry, sort, fold, and deliver laundry throughout the facility when needed
  • separating and disposing of trash and recyclable materials
  • working in a safe manner at all times; working safely with cleaning products and equipment, and wearing personal protective equipment as required
  • providing excellent service to Residents to ensure their expectations are met
  • interacting in a professional, friendly, and helpful manner with Residents, their family members and guests, and with co-workers and supervisors
Required Core Competencies and Qualifications:
  • a high school diploma or G.E.D.
  • dependability: ability and willingness to meet attendance standards
  • basic computer skills: the ability to access and navigate web sites, and use applications and databases independently
  • the ability to read and to complete online training independently
  • ability and willingness to consistently work in a safe and alert manner, and to report to work fit for duty; commitment to wearing protective equipment as required for the position, and adhering to all health and safety standards
  • the ability and willingness to interact in a productive and professional manner with colleagues
  • the ability to form positive and supportive relationships with Residents, and to provide exceptional service to others

Additional Requirements for This Position

  • at least age 18
  • related professional experience as a housekeeper / cleaner in an educational, health care, hotel, or other business setting
  • knowledge of general cleaning procedures, products, materials, and equipment
  • the ability to meet deadlines, and a commitment to keeping all assigned areas clean and sanitary
  • willingness to clean all areas as assigned, including restrooms and health care areas
  • the ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and reach frequently
  • the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs., as well as to push a cart with cleaning supplies, push a vacuum cleaner, and safely operate professional floor cleaning equipment
  • ability to work around house pets when cleaning in residences
  • ability to safely drive a motorized cart
  • the ability to keep Residents’ personal and private information confidential is essential; an understanding of HIPAA privacy regulations
