The Finance Assistant will support the accounting operations team by processing staff expense reports, processing donation deposits, making payments, and completing month-end accounting tasks. The Finance Assistant is responsible for ensuring that the data entered into the accounting software is accurate and timely as well as helping to ensure general efficiency of the department.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- To promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International
Expenses, Deposits and Donations Entries
- Review and enter monthly health insurance bills ensuring billings match elections on payroll
- Perform monthly journal entries and reconciliation of HOPE domestic intercompany due to/from accounts
- Review staff expense reports, follow approval workflows, and prepare date for entry into the accounting system
- Support Accounts Payable processes, as needed
- Ensure that proper documentation and approvals for expenses are maintained in preparation for HOPE’s annual audit
- Deposit check batches into the bank
- Record the donations and other deposits in accounting software
- Support the Staff Accountant with monthly bank reconciliations
Other Key Responsibilities
- Support preparation and distribution of annual 1099s in accordance with IRS guidelines
- Prepare audit workpapers
- Undertake special projects as designated by the manager of accounting operations
- Administrative support to the finance team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Personal confession of Christian faith and commitment to the mission and vision of HOPE International.
- Strong organizational skills
- Accounting knowledge or experience preferred
- Strong attention to detail, maintaining efficient processes and timelines
- Experience in NetSuite preferred; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook required
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a similar field of study preferred
- Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
