Conversations About OUR Community

Conversations About OUR Community
United Way of Lancaster County will be hosting its third virtual community health conversation from 2:00-3:30 this Thursday, June 10th focusing on inequities in healthcare.
The panel will be comprised of local professionals that work in the medical field, as well as those who are in direct contact with or are apart of marginalized groups. The discussion will focus on visibility in healthcare among minority and diverse communities. One of the expansions we hope to bring to this conversation is that there are increased negative impacts on communities beyond race, including LGBTQIA+ members.
The event will begin with a presentation from Rebecca O’Shea, Advocacy Engagement Coordinator, United Way of Pennsylvania about the ALICE population and the ties to healthcare.
The panelists will be as follows, with more expected:
• Dr. Cherise Hamblin, Founder/President, Patients R Waiting, ObGyn, Co-Chair Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health
Officer of Diversity & Inclusion, Lancaster General Family & Community Medicine Residency Progra
• Dr. Sharee Livingston, Ob/Gyn Department Chair UPMC Lititz, Diversity Committee Chair UPMC LITITZ, Board Member and Organizer, Patients R Waiting
Co-Founder, Diversifying Doulas Initiative
• Beth Riley, MPH
The event will be moderated by Susan Baldrige, Executive Director of the Partnership for Public Health.
The event is free and open to the public. Those who wish to register for the event can do so below or by visiting the event on the United Way of Lancaster County’s Facebook page.
