Safety Engineering 2

The goal of this activity was to create something that was capable of picking up the “Toxic” popcorn cup and poor it into the safety container without crossing into the red circle. My group later challenged itself to do this same activity blindfolded and we did complete it both times. The way we did it was using a rope and a tube for length to wrap around the cup to easily pour the cup into the safety container.
This is the one of the last activities we did. Our 3D design and printing, we started with an in class activity to recreate a big Lego block using glue and cardboard. Then we went to the computer lab and designed our Lego bricks that we were going to print out to have. We spent 2 days designing our brick and one day down in the 3D printing room to see the machines we were going to use to print the bricks. Lastly when we got our bricks back it was pretty cool that they could actually stack and connect on top of each other.
This was one of our first Activities using the computer lab and we learned about fonts and typography as our base for this activity. We started in the computer lab to create our key chain template and create the correct measurements for it. Then once we finished using the adobe illustrate app to make what we were going to engrave on the key chain, we went down to the shop room and used the engraver to laser onto our wooden pieces what we designed for ourselves.
This was the Construction Activity, the goal was to use a single piece of paper to hold a liter of water up on 5 wooden pegs. After completing this goal by my group folding the paper to make it strong enough to hold the water we weighted the paper then cut the paper to see how much we could remove from the paper before it would not hold the water anymore. In the end we were able to remove 2 folds from the paper and still hold the water.
The Electronics Activity was incredibly fun learning to build a working switch circuits. In the pictures shown those are my groups circuits that we built. We did struggle somewhat to create a circuit using 2 switches in the end but we eventually completed the challenge.
