We’ve been live for a week! Information on updated URLs, naming conventions

First, thank you to everyone for providing feedback! Your submissions have allowed our Team to resolve dozens of issues that we might not have found as quickly. If you come across other potential issues, please let us know!

In addition to some technical issues which are being addressed in the feedback forms, we’re aware that some users are anxious to update photos and content on their department and program pages.

Several training sessions will be offered to help prepare to make updates to your pages. If you did not get into one of the two initial training sessions, please check back here, as more will be coming very soon.

Our Cascade Quick Start Guide is available if you would like to make changes to your site before attending a training session.

Naming Conventions

With the new website redesign and the upgrade to Cascade CMS, some URLs have changed to adhere to new naming conventions, and we ask that you review your site and make changes accordingly.

New Naming Conventions: All URLs should be lowercase, free of spaces and exclude all symbols except for “-“.

To conform to these new standards, existing URLs have been updated as follows, when applicable:

  • Uppercase converted to lowercase
  • “_” replaced with “-“
  • spaces replaced with “-“
  • “&” replaced with “and”
  • “,”  replaced with “-“
  • Special symbols have been translated to their character equivalent, if applicable, and removed, if not applicable.

Please take some time to update URLs on any existing electronic and paper materials, such as:

  • Printed materials
  • Forms
  • PDFs
  • Social media

Cascade Training Registration is available on our blog. Training sessions will be added throughout the next couple of weeks. Check back often for new session dates and times.

Browser Support

As a reminder, Microsoft IE 11 without “Compatability View” and Edge are the only IE browser versions that the site was designed to function with. If you are unable to use IE we suggest switching to another supported browser such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Safari.
