STUDENT CLUBS AT MU: Meet the National Society of Black Engineers (@n.s.b.e_mu)!
The Millersville chapter of NSBE is dedicated to increasing minority representation in all STEM fields while introducing local youth to STEM opportunities.

Club coordinator Milon Burton shares how NSBE has helped him develop essential skills. Through career opportunities, conferences, and project management, he has gained experience in collaboration, networking, leadership, and organization—preparing him for the professional world.

Burton states, “Overall, NSBE has been a great contributor to my personal and academic growth, and I’m excited to continue my journey with the organization.”

NSBE hosts numerous exciting events throughout the year. Recently, they held their 3rd annual coat drive. Looking ahead, the chapter will attend the 51st NSBE National Convention in Chicago and participate in the 2nd annual Career Carnival, scheduled for March 25th from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. These events highlight NSBE’s commitment to supporting its members and the broader community while fostering greater representation in STEM fields.

Burton and the entire NSBE chapter are passionate about closing the gap in minority representation in STEM. Their project, Break Barriers, Build Bridges for STEM, focuses on increasing community outreach and recruiting college students as mentors for middle schoolers. By partnering with the local school district, they aim to spark early interest in #STEM and inspire the next generation of engineers and scientists.
