Millersville Business Students Travel Across the Pond

Fourteen students from the Lombardo College of Business kept busy over spring break traveling to London to visit major businesses.

Fourteen students from the Lombardo College of Business kept busy over spring break traveling abroad to London to visit major businesses and visit other attractions.

The students were accompanied by Dr. Lexi Hutto, associate professor of marketing, and Dr. Marc Tomljanovich, dean of the Lombardo College of Business. The students and faculty traveled from March 3 through March 12.

Andrew Archut at Oxford University.

Andrew Archut is a junior business administration student from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was one of the students on the trip. Archut is excited to share his experiences in London and how the trip supported his learning at Millersville University.

When asked about his favorite part of the trip, Archut says that it’s tough to narrow it down to one. “Overall, the entire trip was an unbelievable, wonderful, satisfying trip of a lifetime.”

The students visited many places that gave them insight into international business and marketing. The trip was jam-packed with visits to various company headquarters, where students could gain insight into how these businesses work and what they offer.

“Visits to Bloomberg, Goldman Sachs, UCL, Piper Sandler, JC Decaux and Firefly were an important part of the trip because each presenter had a different perspective and idea that I could relate to,” Archut shares.

Not only did students get to learn more about their major and their specific areas of study, but they got to experience the touristy side of London, too.

“Seeing Big Ben in-person was an amazing experience,” Archut says. “All the landmarks, museums, architecture, a 5-hour walking tour, Oxford University, a football match, the London Eye and seeing the musical ‘Wicked’ were all fun and exciting parts of the trip.”

In a week full of both fun and learning, Archut says that his time in London helped build upon the skills he’s learned in his business classes at the University so far.

“It showed me the importance of becoming knowledgeable in many fields of business. It also taught me to practice better communications skills and be willing to work hard,” Archut concludes.
