Visit from University of Cape Coast

On February 23, a delegation from UCC visited Millersville’s campus.

Over the holidays, Millersville University President Dr. Daniel A. Wubah represented the University on an international trip to Ghana to visit with the University of Cape Coast. The trip provided an opportunity to build strong relationships with institutions seeking to partner with Millersville University. On February 23, a delegation from UCC visited Millersville’s campus.

The UCC delegation was led by Vice Chancellor Johnson Nyarko Boampong, a pharmacist and biomedical scientist. Boampong became provost of the College of Health and Allied Sciences after completing his three-year term as the Dean of School of Biological Sciences, all in the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

The delegation from Ghana met with a variety of Millersville faculty and administrators to collaborate and discuss how each institution could benefit from a continued partnership.

The delegation from UCC included:

  • David Teye Doku Director, Directorate of Research Innovation and Consultancy
  • Samuel Bert Boadi-kusi Vice Dean Of Internationalisation
  • Eugene Kwarteng-Nantwi Counsellor for International Students
  • Samuel Danso Akoto National Alumni President

The University of Cape Coast was established in 1962 to help fill the gap of qualified educators in Ghana.  Originally a college, UCC achieved university status in 1971 and was allowed to grant their own degrees. In the years since, UCC has been a driving force in meeting and maintaining manpower in many industries and across many disciplines, including doctors and health care professionals, business professionals, administrators, legal professionals, and agriculturalists. The popular school currently educates 78,485 students.

The 2023 Times Higher Education named University of Cape Coast the number 1 University in Ghana, the number 1 University in West Africa, the number 4 University in Africa, the number 24 University globally for research influence and is among the top 400 schools internationally.
