Millersville University Police Bleed Blue

The blood drive will take place Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 10 – 4 in room 114 of the SMC.

Millersville University Police are once again participating in the “Bleed Blue” Blood Donor Challenge, a competition organized by police departments across Lancaster County.

The blood drive will take place Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in room 114 of the Student Memorial Center, the Reighard Multipurpose Room. The drive is open to the community, including University faculty, staff and students.

“Blood is essential to help patients survive surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses and traumatic injuries,” explains Officer Shawn Sweda. “This lifesaving care starts with one person making a generous donation.”

The “Bleed Blue” challenge is part of an initiative to engage and give back to the community, and a way to encourage community members to donate blood. Police departments in Manheim Township, Lancaster City, Millersville, Hempfield and more will compete to see which department organizes the most blood donations.

To donate blood, participants must be 16 years or older, at least 110 pounds, have no history of hepatitis and no tattoos or piercings within the past 3 months. For more information and to sign up, visit the Lancaster General Health website here.
