Eliphalet Oram Lyte

Lyte is credited for composing the song “Row, Row Row, Your Boat.” A Lancaster native, Lyte taught at Millersville beginning in 1866. The Civil War veteran became principal in 1887. He also designed and directed the construction of what are now Dutcher Hall, Biemesderfer Hall and the Charles and Mary Hash Building.

Chas McCormick

McCormick is an outfielder for the Houston Astros. He graduated in 2017. He holds the Marauders all-time records for hits, runs and RBIs. He hit his first MLB home run on April 4, 2021.

Hugh Herr

Herr is the director of the Biomechatronics research group at MIT. His contributions to the field of prosthetics include over 100 patents that help those who are missing limbs. After losing both of his legs in a climbing accident, Herr earned his undergraduate degree at Millersville in 1990. He then went on to earn his masters and PhD at MIT and Harvard, respectively.

Silvia Vasquez-Lavado

Vasquez-Lavado is a seasoned mountain climber and activist. The 1996 graduate from Peru is the first openly gay woman to climb the tallest mountain on each continent. She also created Courageous Girls, a nonprofit dedicated to helping victims of abuse. A major motion picture about her life is scheduled to be released in 2022, starring Selena Gomez. Eli Brill

Brill, a 2017 graduate, proved himself one of the top unicyclists in the country at the North American Unicycling Championships at the age of just 14. He was voted Mr. People’s Choice at the Mr. Millersville 2016 competition, where he wore a shirt representing his time at MUTV during his cycling act. Today, Brill is a second-grade teacher. On the side, he runs a YouTube channel demonstrating and sharing his knowledge of the sport.

Nicole Brewer

Brewer is a former morning news anchor for Philadelphia’s CBS 3. She spent 10 years at the station, starting in 2008. She graduated magna cum laude in speech communications in 2005. Later that year, she was named Miss Pennsylvania and landed in the top 10 of Miss America 2006.

Jordan A. Harris

Harris is the Democratic Whip of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. He graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in governmental and political affairs. He has been representing the Philadelphia area since 2013.  In the 2020 election, he served as a voter in the electoral college. Harris has also been a member of the Millersville Council of Trustees since 2016.
