A screening of the film “Los Hermanos” will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 22 in Millersville’s Visual and Performing Arts Center.
On Thursday Sept. 23, visit the Biemesderfer Concert Hall for a live performance and discussion of “Lydia,” the portrait of a Mexican immigrant family.
Millersville’s Hispanic Heritage Month will close with catering from a local Latino restaurant on Friday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. outside of the SMC. Free food will be available for the first 100 students in attendance.
According to the National Archives website, the U.S. celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month to “recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic American champions who have inspired others to achieve success.” The national observance of Hispanic Heritage began in the 1960s, expanding to include a month of celebrations in 1988 under President Ronald Reagan.
