Millersville University Hosts Moving Forward Virtual Conference

The conference is geared towards PK-12 educators and is free to attend.

Millersville University will host Moving Forward: Learning from the COVID-19 Pandemic, a virtual conference focused on PK-12 education on June 29, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The conference is geared toward PK-12 educators and is free to attend. The event will focus on ways in which teachers and leaders can overcome the educational challenges presented by the pandemic.

The conference will cover five different categories that each focus on a level of interaction in a student’s life. Topics include; childhood development and understanding how different systems and spheres of influence affect them. Discussions will be held on a student’s microsystem like their family, friends, or neighborhood and on their exosystem, which highlights topics such as socioeconomics, media, extended family and law/policy.

Dr. Nakeiha Primus, an associate professor at Millersville University, is the keynote speaker. Primus has over 15 years of experience as an educator at the K-12 and university level. Her keynote is titled “Time Catches Up: Ongoing Lesson for Education Stakeholders.” In her words she says, “This keynote is a call to action that will outline ways for teachers, students, and community members to use the precariousness and possibilities of our current moment toward realized systemic change.”
