Message from IT on Returning to Campus

Returning to Campus

We are looking forward to welcoming faculty and staff back to campus. Please review the following guidelines to ensure a smooth transition for your technology needs:

  • If your computer is located in your campus office, it should be reconnected to the network and ready to use. If you experience any problems, please reach out to the Help Desk at 717-871-7777.
  • If you have your MU laptop or desktop at home, and it was already scanned and cleared, please schedule an appointment so an IT tech can meet with you upon your return to assist you with getting reconnected and on the network. Click here to schedule your setup appointment.
  • To make the most of your appointment please complete the following tasks before bringing your computer back to your office:
    • Complete all Windows updates. Instructions on how to run Windows updates can be found here.
    • Make sure all documents are backed up in your OneDrive. You can find out more about syncing your files to OneDrive here.
  • If you have your MU laptop or desktop at home, and it was NOT scanned and cleared, you will need to schedule and appointment so IT can wipe and refresh your machine so it can be used on campus. Click here to schedule your wipe and refresh appointment. Once your computer has been wiped and refreshed it will be ready to use in your office. We will be happy to assist you with setting it up if needed after the wipe/refresh appointment has been completed.
  • Please complete the following before you bring your computer for your appointment:
    • Make sure all documents are backed up in your OneDrive. You can find out more about syncing your files to OneDrive here.

Apple/Mac users:

  • Apple devices do not require a scan to be reconnected to the network.
  • Please schedule an appointment so an IT tech can meet with you upon your return to assist you with getting reconnected and on the network. Click here to schedule your setup appointment.

Note: Mobile devices are unaffected (with the exception of the services that were unavailable). People can feel free to connect their devices to the MU_WiFi and access their email or other services.

Great question. Here’s what we heard from IT – Mobile devices are unaffected by the attack (with the exception of the services that were unavailable). People can feel free to connect their devices to the MU_WiFi and access their email or other services.

Thanks for doing this great work and at the same time I constat that you didn’t mention anything about android and iPhone users, because some of the staffs access the MU intranet via their mobiles, i think you will have a note for them too.

Thank you
