Open House for New College of Business

The new college has roots that go back to 1978.

Millersville University will hold an open house for the new College of Business on Tuesday Sept. 24, 2019 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in the Ford Atrium, McComsey Hall. The event will officially announce the new college to members of the MU and Lancaster County communities.

The event will feature five speakers including University President Dr. Daniel Wubah, Interim Dean Dr. Doug Frazer, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Vilas Prabhu, current student Gasser Abousaif and 2018 graduate Renee Drawbaugh.

Abousaif  is a dual major in marketing and international business with a minor in computer science. “Since arriving to Millersville, I have been involved in the Student Business Association, Enactus, Millersville Robotics Team, the All-Greek Council and the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity,” says Abousaif. “I was able to apply what I learned in my courses to help my organizations to grow from a marketing and strategic aspect.”

Drawbaugh graduated from Millersville with a degree in business administration with concentrations in finance and accounting. “As a student I was asked to join the Marauder Fund Student Investment Association and began a finance internship. What I learned in these roles applied to my classes and vice versa. I’m beyond grateful for this experience that I believe helped me land my full-time job,” says Drawbaugh. After graduation, Drawbaugh started work as a finance associate at Armstrong World Industries and she recently started her graduate degree in finance.

The College of Business is the University’s newest college on campus, joining the College of Education and Human Services, College of Science and Technology, and College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.  It offers a bachelor’s in business administration with options in accounting and finance, and marketing and management.  The new college was established on July 1, 2019 and has an advisory council of local business leaders and alumni.

The new college has roots that go back to 1978 when the Economics Department first offered a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.  Then, in 1984, the University established the Department of Business Administration, which is now the second largest program on campus, enrolling over 750 students – and the base for the new College of Business.

The open house is open to the public, but does require registration. Please email/call the Office of Scheduling and Event Management at 717-871-5926, or special.events@millersville.edu by Friday, Sept. 20, 2019. Refreshments will be offered.
