Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood Appointed Chief Diversity Officer

Dr. Brown-Haywood will provide strategic leadership for the Office of Diversity and Social Justice.

Millersville University recently announced the appointment of Dr. Felicia Brown-Haywood as the Chief Diversity Officer as of August 1, 2019. Brown-Haywood will serve on the president’s cabinet.

Brown-Haywood’s appointment is the result of a national search. Dr. Daniel Wubah, president of Millersville says, “Dr. Brown-Haywood will provide strategic leadership for the Office of Diversity and Social Justice. An accomplished higher education administrator with over 20 years of experience, she draws from a wealth of knowledge in student development and engagement, equity and intercultural affairs, student leadership and Title IX.  We are delighted to have her on board.”

Brown-Haywood previously served as Chief Diversity Officer at Penn State – Harrisburg and teaches as an affiliate graduate faculty member in Penn State – Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education. At Penn State – Harrisburg she was named the thought leader and strategist by the new chancellor and senior associate dean, on issues relating to diversity and inclusive excellence. This was a result of the many campus-wide and community-based trainings she created, implemented and facilitated relating to Diversity Equity & Inclusive Excellence.

Brown-Haywood holds a D.Ed. in adult education and lifelong learning from Penn State University, a master’s degree in professional counseling/student personnel from Shippensburg University, a master’s degree in theology/pastoral counseling from Virginia Union University and a bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation from Cheyney University. In addition, she is a licensed professional counselor and a national certified counselor.

Brown-Haywood lives in Harrisburg with her husband Reginald Haywood. They are co-owners of Hairliners Beauty Salon. Brown-Haywood serves as vice-chair on the Governor’s State Board of Cosmetology.
