National Fundraising Award Goes to Millersville

First CASE Fundraising Award for Millersville!

For the first time ever, Millersville University (MU) is being recognized with a 2018 Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Educational Fundraising award. MU is the only school in the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) to be honored this year.

“Millersville University has always been an exceptional institution, committed to our students,” says Alice McMurry, interim vice president of advancement at MU. “Fundraising becomes more important to us each year to offset the challenges we face with reductions in state support along with increased costs. It’s gratifying to be recognized for our fundraising efforts that provide support and scholarships for our students.”

CASE selected Millersville as one of five schools to receive the award for “Overall Improvement for Public Comprehensive Institutions with Endowments over $35 Million” for 2018. The CASE Educational Fundraising Award recognizes fundraising programs and activities at institutions that demonstrate the highest level of fundraising practices that help educational advancement both locally and internationally.

Selected by a panel of judges, the CASE Awards are determined based on factors that observe the growth, breadth and impact that each institutions fundraising efforts over the course of several years. This is used to observe if the program is well-maintained, as well as the program’s maturity and growth.

Millersville University is currently running a three-year, $32 million campaign focused on students called “Imagine the Possible.” To date, the University is 49.5 percent to goal. The campaign supports scholarships; student learning experiences such as internships, undergraduate research and global education, as well as athletics.
