If you can’t wait for the HBO hit Game of Thrones to come back next year, you need to stop by the Upper Deck and the Lookout in Gordinier Hall on Oct. 18.

MU Dining is hosting a one-of-a-kind event, Game of Thrones Night, complete with unusual and exciting food options, trivia, prizes and more!

The entire University community including students with and without meal plans, faculty and staff are invited to join the festivities, which will run from 4:30-8 p.m. Priority admission for MU Meal Plan Members will take place between 4:30-6 p.m. All guests, including MU Meal Plan Members will be admitted after 6 p.m. Admission rates are $12.50 for MU ID holders and $14.50 for all other guests. All food will be first come, first serve.

Diners will not recognize the Upper Deck and Lookout. Two large feast tables will boast a range of food items and various “Kingdoms” will feature selections from chicken to pork and beef to alligator. Don’t miss Cercei’s Shameful Wild Fire Wings, Dragon Bites or Roasted Little Fingers. The full salad bar will be open and there will be gluten free and other dietary choices available in our “Allergy Free Zone.”

The rooms will be decorated from top to bottom like the realm and a replica of the throne will be available for photo ops. Music from the show will be playing throughout the night.Dragon Eggs3

“It’s going to be different and exciting,” says Deanna Maurone, catering secretary in University Dining and Conference Services. “We really want to get students who are true “throners” to stop by. We want to get students to come to the Upper Deck and discover something different.”

Students are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character and enter the costume competition. Ten winners will get a free large pizza and six pack of soda of their choice to pick up at the Upper Deck during dinner hours.

Trivia will take place in the student lounge downstairs. Play to win GOT merchandise, banners, t-shirts and a GOT cookbook that includes many of the recipes featured at the event.

MU Dining will be entering this event into the National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards. This annual and prestigious award recognizes higher education institutions for their, “exemplary menus, presentations, special event planning, and new dining concepts, and provide an avenue for sharing ideas and creative presentations in campus dining services.”

Game of Thrones Night is sure to be unlike anything else, and you won’t want to miss it!

What a super idea! McComsey Hall has a bare tree in the lobby with a scroll sign saying “Winter is coming…”
