Keith, the son of Tonya Wagner, is in second grade and lives in Quarryville, Pa., with his sisters Christine and Cianni. Keith has dealt with medical ailments since birth and most recently underwent a kidney transplant after being diagnosed with end stage renal failure in June of 2014.Millersville baseball is among the most successful programs in NCAA Division II, having reached the NCAA Atlantic Regional in four of the last five seasons. The Marauders won the PSAC Championship and posted a 45-11 record in 2015. Head coach Jon Shehan, a Lancaster County native himself, welcomed the opportunity to partner with Team IMPACT and bring Keith on to the roster.

“Our players have already been communicating with Keith, and we are excited to have him and his family become a part of our Marauder family,” said Shehan. “Keith will be in our locker room, in our dugout and on the practice field. We look forward to building a relationship and providing a memorable experience.”

The Jan. 15 Draft Day will be Keith’s first face-to-face interaction with the team. The press conference environment will serve as the official introduction of Keith as a Marauder.

Team IMPACT is a national organization, based in Boston, whose mission is to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening and chronic illnesses through the power of team. Keith will become an official team member on Draft Day and continue through to graduation. Established in 2011, Team IMPACT has already matched over 800 children with collegiate teams at over 300 institutions in 43 states.

Keith was diagnosed at birth with renal failure and spent the first 18 months of his life in the hospital on dialysis treatments. At 18 months of age, he met Tonya and was released from the hospital. Since receiving a transplant, he continues to frequent the hospital to undergo medical treatments.

“With all Keith is battling through, he truly epitomizes what it means to be a fighter and is sure to be an inspiration to his new teammates,” said Team IMPACT representative Mary Welker.

Keith is an avid sports fan. While he is unable to participate because of his health, he enjoys attending local games and rooting for his favorite teams, the Philadelphia Phillies and Philadelphia Eagles. He also enjoys the stage, having performed the National Anthem at local wrestling shows and has taken dance class for three years.
