Sept. 10 ComMUnity Fest brings together campus, community vendors

In 2024, ComMUnity Fest welcomed more than 35 vendors and 600 attendees, and an even larger turnout is expected this year.

Millersville University’s annual ComMunity Fest will bring together the campus and local community from 2 to 5 p.m., Sept. 10, on the Student Memorial Center Promenade. Millersville students, staff and faculty are welcome to attend and engage with a variety of vendors from the Lancaster County area.

“It’s important that students not only connect on campus but connect to and engage in the local community as well,” explains John Hearn, senior director of operations at the Student Memorial Center. “Since Lancaster County will be their new home away from home for several months, we’ve invited local businesses and organizations to visit campus to share what they have to offer students, faculty and staff at MU.”

In 2024, ComMUnity Fest welcomed more than 35 vendors and 600 attendees, and an even larger turnout is expected this year. The event provides an opportunity for students to make their own free wax hands, spin the PSECU wheel for prizes, and purchase a taco from Cactus Cafe. From Tanger Outlets to Duck Donuts, each business provides free items such as coupons, food and other fun merchandise for attendees to take away.

VENDOR INFORMATION
Vendor registration closes on Sept. 8. This unique, open-air event offers exclusive access to engage with students, faculty and staff right in the heart of campus. It’s the only organized event of this scale that allows businesses to market products and services directly to the Millersville University community.

But back in 2001, the business major was just trying to find a college that was close to home, but, you know – not too close. <br /> <br /> She describes her time at Millersville University as, “some of the best times of my life.” She lived in the former Lenhardt Hall, high up on the sixth floor with some of her soon-to-be closest friends, playing intramural soccer (and she's an intramural champ, by the way - check out the shirt), studying for classes and letting loose on the weekends. “I had the best time at Millersville,” she shares. “I graduated on time, in four years, without changing my major – but the best part is that I always have my best friends from MU.” <br /> <br /> Today, she has her Project Management Professional® certification, the gold-star standard in the field, and an impressive résumé with roles at Nike, Abercrombie and more, several moves to major cities like Boston and Chicago, and a switch to becoming a consultant. She moved back to Philadelphia in 2025 and this June, she began work as the new Program Director for the fast-food company Wendy’s, where she’s leading the initiative to install a new point of sale system across their franchises. Oh, and she recently became an Eagles season ticket holder. Go Birds! 🦅 <br /> <br /> In layman’s terms, Kelleher describes project management as, “Leading an effort from start to finish. My job is to connect the dots, keep teams aligned, and help everyone work toward a common goal. The skills are more transferable than people realize.
