Student in Millersville/HACC Concurrent Enrollment Program Selected for Scholarship

Shonpre Jones, who is embarking on a second career in nursing, plans to graduate from HACC in August 2026 and Millersville University in spring 2027.

Millersville student Shonpre Jones of York has been selected to receive the 2025 Jack E. Barger, Sr. Memorial Nursing Scholarship from the Nursing Foundation of Pennsylvania. She and other scholarship recipients will be honored on Nov. 1 at the Foundation’s annual gala.

Jones is enrolled in the Millersville/HACC RN to BSN concurrent enrollment program, which allows students enrolled in HACC’s Associate in Nursing program to take Millersville’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing courses online while completing the program at HACC to get a head start on their BSN.

Jones, who is embarking on a second career in nursing, plans to graduate from HACC in August 2026 and Millersville University in spring 2027. She is a member of the Alpha Delta Nu Nursing Honors Society at HACC. A graduate of William Penn Senior High School in York, she has earned degrees from York College of Pennsylvania and Temple University.

Mex chose to attend Millersville because of the ‘vibrant community’ he experienced during a student tour. “It felt different compared to every other college campus I toured,” he says.<br /> <br /> In addition to his studies, Max is the producer of Plugged In, a program on MUTV, a student-run television station. He also serves as the associate editor for The Snapper, a student-run newspaper, and is the public relations chair for the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. Besides his club involvement, Max has an internship with the University’s Communications and Marketing Department in video production. “Each of these organizations has allowed me to develop and grow in my professional career, increase my academics, and thrive socially,” shares Max. “They have allowed me to become well-rounded as a person.”<br /> <br /> Max’s favorite course so far has been the 2025 II Cinema Ritrovato film festival in Bologna, Italy, during his study abroad program. “Seeing the world with my peers, getting to explore a new country, and hidden elements of my industry was a life-changing experience for me,” he says. “This trip even led me to create my first-ever documentary, 'Marauders in Italia,' which highlighted the experience of the trip.”<br /> <br /> Max’s favorite spot on campus is the gym, as it has brought him many of his close friends and is a place he continues to build his social network.<br /> <br /> In his free time, Max enjoys lifting in the gym, video editing/filming, watching the YouTuber Markiplier, learning martial arts, and spending quality time with his loved ones.<br /> <br /> After graduation, Max plans to enter the field of media production with aspirations of becoming a documentary filmmaker.<br /> <br /> His favorite quote comes from Markiplier: "What I do is temporary, but what I leave behind is forever."
