Dr. Dennis Downey

Dr. Dennis B. Downey, professor emeritus, served as the guest editor and contributing author for the summer 2022 special issue of the journal “Pennsylvania History.” The issue, “Exploring Disability History in Pennsylvania,” contains a dozen articles exploring the history of disabilities as a multidisciplinary field of inquiry.  Downey’s book “Pennhurst and the Struggle for Disability Rights” (2020) was chosen as the July, 2022 selection of the National Council of Public History’s reading group.

Dr. Kazi Hossain

Dr. Kazi Hossain, associate professor, Department of Early, Middle, & Exceptional Education, recently attended the 12th International Conference on the Future of Education in Florence, Italy. Dr. Hossain delivered the keynote address entitled “Diversity & Multiculturalism as Pathways to Better Citizenship” to kick off the conference attended by educators and policy planners from 40 countries.  In addition, Dr. Hossain presented a paper–“Teaching Immigration in the Classroom–An American Experience”.  Furthermore, he also moderated a session on “Teacher Education.”

Dr. Daniel Keefer, professor and chair of Wellness and Sports Sciences.

Dr. Daniel J. Keefer, professor and chair of the Department of Wellness and Sport Sciences was recently elected Chairperson of the Board of Directors for CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health.
