Strong Presence at Local Grammys

“Millersville’s Music Industry program has produced some great artists,” says Dr. Barry Atticks.

Award winners at the Central PA Music Awards include Dr. Barry Atticks, who was named “Educator of Note” along with several Music Business Technology alums.

Millersville University’s Music program was well represented at the 3rd Annual Central Pennsylvania Music Awards, also known as the “Local Grammys.” Current students, faculty, staff and alumni were nominated for awards, and several alumni and a faculty member came away with the top prizes. The Local Grammys were held on March 24 at The Hershey Theatre.

All of the award winners are Music Business Technology alums, except for Dr. Barry Atticks who was named Educator of Note.

Other winners include:
Best Female Vocalist – Brenna Diehl
Best Rock Band – Big Fat Meanies (Tristan Miller, Brenna Diehl, Nicole Migliori, Zander Gawn, Jason Brennan, Rick Ferrarelli)

MauveStrom: Nominated for Best Cover Band
Members: Elaina Hatton (current MBT student), Steve Sammartino (MBT alum), Luke Leonard (MBT alum), Michaela Burns (MBT alum), Lauren Hill (MBT alum), Colin DiLucido (MBT alum) and Dr. Barry Atticks (MBT professor).

Brenna Diehl (MBT alum): Nominated for Best Vocalist

Big Fat Meanies: Nominated for Best Album/EP Release and Best Rock Band
Members: Sam Kelly (MBT alum), Zander Gawn  (MBT alum), Tristan Miller (Current MBT student), Brenna Diehl  (MBT alum), Sam Kelly  (MBT alum), Jason Alan (MBT alum), Rick Ferrarelli (MBT alum) and Nicole Migliore (Music Ed Alum)

Trash Juice: Nominated for Best Funk/Groove
Band Members include Tyler Samsel (MBT alum)

Blind Choice: Nominated for Best Alternative Band
Members include Tanner Snyder (Current MBT student)

Central City Orchestra: Nominated for best Variety/Dance Band.
Members include Rusty Banks (Music adjunct) and Amy Banks (MU employee)
