From Cinderella to Frankenstein, the Costume Shop can Help

As Halloween approaches, the Millersville Costume Shop is booming.

As Halloween approaches, the Millersville Costume Shop is booming. The shop, open Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 3 -7 p.m, has an extensive collection of complete costumes and accessories. With over 30,000 options to choose from, they can fill all of your costume needs. And, thanks to a recent donation by Maranatha Productions, there are hundreds of new costume pieces.

Millersville Costume Shop

The shop began in 1982 when Jean Loeb of  Lancaster donated 10,000 costumes. Loeb was a customer for local productions in addition to running her own rental service in Columbia. Her collection came primarily from Wass & Son, a Philadelphia costume company that operated for over a century. Priscilla Kaufhold, director of the MU shop, said, “Wass & Son was well known for more than a century as one of the leading costuming companies in the East and was responsible for outfitting thousands of productions and costume parties.”

With over 30,000 options to choose from, the Costume Shop can fill all of your costume needs.

Throughout the nearly 40-year history of the shop, seven new costume collections have been acquired. Additionally, several costumes have been created for productions performed at Millersville University. Thousands of costumes have also been donated including the recent donation from Maranatha Productions, a nonprofit that performs biblical dramas.

Anyone can rent a costume from the shop for up to a week. Customers can set up an appointment and browse until they find their perfect costume.

Since I am gonna be Prince Charming from Cinderella for Halloween this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Walt Disney World, I would like to visit the costume shop to see if there’s any additions I might need for my costume and to see if someone will be Cinderella.
