MauveStrom, the hard rock band comprised of current Millersville students and alumni was recently awarded 2020s Best Collegiate Rock Band by the Central Pennsylvania Music Hall of Fame. The band was honored for their livestream performance in November and their music video that was part of Glorious Sounds of the Season. The award was presented at the Central Pennsylvania Music Awards in June and was accepted by MauveStrom band members Elaina Hatton and Michaela Annabelle Burns, along with Dr. Barry Atticks, associate professor of music business technology at Millersville University.
“The award shows that we are attracting top musical talent at this school! And, that’s even though these students are on the technology and business side of the music industry,” says Atticks.
MauveStrom, formerly known as the Mauve Band, was established in 2016 when it started as a seven-month performance class in the Music Business Technology program at Millersville. The group disbanded in 2017, making a comeback in 2018 when they performed under the name MauveStrom.
MauveStrom covers bands such as Bon Jovi, ACDC and Led Zepplin. The band is comprised of Lauren Hill, Luke Leonard, Colin diLucido, Micheala Burns, Elaina Hatton, Steve Sammartino and Barry Gray.
MauveStrom will be playing live on August 14 at Musikfest in Bethlehem, PA and at the Reading Philies Post-Game Fireworks Show in Reading, PA. For more information on MauveStrom’s upcoming performances, visit https://mauvestrom.com/tour.
