Professor Snyder: Best Article Published!

Dr. Mark Snyder, Millersville professor in Applied Engineering, Safety & Technology, was recently selected to receive the Paul T. Hiser Exemplary Publication Award. The award is in recognition of his article titled “A Century of Perspectives that influenced the Consideration of Technology as a Critical Component of STEM Education in the United States.” The article was published in “The Journal of Technology Studies”  (Dr. Snyder’s article begins on page 42).

The Paul T. Hiser Award honors an author who is judged to have submitted the best article published in the journal each year. In addition to earning recognition at the annual professional association conference, the recipient also receives a monetary award.

“The Journal of Technology” is a refereed publication of the international honorary society for professionals in technology, Epsilon Pi Tau. The board of directors created the award to honor deserving scholars.

To be considered for this award, Snyder required a nomination from the Journal Editorial Review Board and a majority vote from the editors of the journal. The board of directors gave the final approval of the award. This is the second time that Snyder has been honored with the Hiser award, he also received it in 2007 for his article titled “The Education of Indentured Servants in Colonial America.”
