MU’s Online Master’s Degree Ranked in Top 10 Nationally

Millersville has one of the best emergency management programs in the country.

With natural disasters occurring on what seems like an almost daily basis, the need for trained emergency management professionals is in high demand. Out of the top 10 online master’s degree programs in emergency management (MSEM) in the nation, Millersville University (MU) ranks number seven, according to TheBestSchools.org.

TheBestSchools.org formulates its rankings based on six categories; academic excellence based on school’s curriculum or within the selected discipline, strength of faculty scholarship, reputation, financial aid, range of degree programs and strength of online instruction methodology.

“It is nice to be recognized among the top emergency management programs in the country. We strive to provide a high-quality graduate program in emergency management program that focuses on both theoretical and practical elements,” says program coordinator Dr. Sepi Yalda.

TheBestSchools.org noted the program’s flexibility and accessibility, faculty experience in the field, student satisfaction and partnerships with other emergency and disaster management organizations and institutes as the reasons for MU’s spot on the list. In addition, they stated that MU’s coursework is relevant and timely.

The online master’s program in emergency management requires 30 credit hours of coursework, culminating in a capstone field experience practicum, and is typically completed in two years. The degree benefits those already working in emergency management fields who wish to gain further expertise or wish to enter the field for the first time.
