Planning for after graduation? Millersville University (MU) will hold the annual job and internship fair on Oct. 3, 2019 in Marauder Courts inside the Student Memorial Center (SMC). The fair will take place between noon and 3 p.m. The event, organized by the Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM), will feature 134 businesses.
Open only to MU students, alumni, staff and faculty, the job and internship fair provides opportunities to find internships for the upcoming year and employment for after graduation. Internships are an opportunity for students to earn academic credit, network with professionals in their field and explore a career by having real world experience.
This year, networking will begin at 2:30 p.m. as the fair winds down, providing an opportunity for students and employer representatives to partake in informal conversation and an appetizer buffet.
Students attending the fair are encouraged to dress professionally and develop an “elevator speech” that outlines themselves and why they would be a good fit for an employer.
A variety of companies and organizations will be in attendance this year. Some of the participating recruiters are MU alumni and will be identifiable with an ALUMNI ribbon. Students can learn more about the fair through the Career Fair Plus mobile app. The app features a complete list of attending companies, the positions each group is hiring for and the floor plan of the fair.
In preparation of the fair, students can stop by the ELCM table inside the SMC by PSECU from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Sept. 27. This table will feature resume and cover letter critiques. Any questions regarding the fair can also be answered at this table.
ELCM additionally offers numerous career services all semester to prepare students for the fair. Services such as resume critiques and one-on-one appointments prepare students to show their best when talking to potential future employers.
