Online Master’s Degree Ranks in Top 25

Once again – Emergency Management Program is Honored.

Millersville University’s (MU) online master’s degree in emergency management has earned countless accolades over the years. It was recently ranked 20 in the national BestColleges.com survey.  In addition it was ranked in the top 10 on TheBestSchools.org, top 30 on OnlineMasters.com and top 50 on Learn.org.

Rankings are based on statistical data such as academic quality, affordability and online competency from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and College Navigator. Other factors include admission and enrollment rates, retention rates, graduation rates, the average amount students borrow to complete the program and owe after graduation, the length of time the school has been investing in online learning and quality of faculty teaching the courses.

MU’s program consists of 30 required credits regarding topics such as natural disasters, mental health, trauma and the social dimensions of disasters. As an online program, classes allow for flexibility for both full-time and part-time students who may be actively working in an emergency services role. This allows students to complete the program anywhere from one to four years, with most students completing it in two years.

“It is nice to be recognized among the top emergency management programs in the country. We strive to provide a high quality graduate program in emergency management program that focuses on both theoretical and practical elements.,” said program coordinator Dr. Sepi Yalda.

Graduates of the program are prepared to enter roles such as emergency management directors and specialists, logisticians, computer and information systems managers, emergency response coordinators, disaster recovery coordinators and intelligence analysts.
