Millersville Community-University Parade Seeks Grand Marshal Nominees

Nominations must be received by July 31, 2019.

Nominations are now being accepted for Grand Marshal of the 23rd annual Millersville Community-University Parade, a collaborative effort between Millersville University, Millersville Borough and the surrounding community.  The Grand Marshal has the honor of riding in the parade’s lead vehicle and presiding over the parade.  The parade is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2019.  The 2019 parade theme is “A Halloween Monster Mash,” and over 20,000 are expected to attend and/or participate in the annual fall parade.

The Grand Marshal is selected each year based on his or her significant contributions to the Greater Millersville Community.  All nominees must live or work in the Millersville community.  Nominations can be submitted in the form of a one-page letter explaining the nominee’s specific impact on the Millersville community.  The nominator must include his or her name, address and phone number, as well as the person they are nominating.  Nominations must be received by July 31, 2019.

The Millersville Community-University Parade was established in 1997 by a group of volunteers dedicated to improving relationships between the borough of Millersville, Millersville University, Manor Township and surrounding communities.  Since then, the Millersville Community-University Parade has quickly evolved into one of Lancaster County’s largest and most dynamic parades.  Previous grand marshals included John Herr, Lynette Trout, Dorothy Bender, Jim Eshleman, Dr. William Duncan, Dr. Joseph Caputo, Steven DiGuiseppe, Harold “Skip” Rhodes, Dr. Ralph and Judy Anttonen, Benjamin F. and Polly H. Kauffman, Mary Ann and Phil Gerber, David W. Patterson, Dr. Francine G. McNary, Andrew T. Scheid, Richard Moriarty, Dr. William McIlwaine, Kitty Glass, James Pontz and Dr. Richard Frerichs.
