What will guide our future; the future of the students and communities we serve? Using an inclusive, collaborative and engaging approach, a new All University Council (AUC) is being formed to craft Millersville University’s next strategic plan. This new plan will guide the University between now and 2025.
Millersville University is currently in its fifth and final year of its Bold Path initiative, which includes mission and vision statements, values, goals and strategies. Parallel with finalizing the Middle States Self-Study, the University is embarking on its 2025 Strategic Plan. The plan’s design will be informed by the Self-Study findings, Listening Tour input, and an environmental scan.
“Our current strategic plan was created with input from across the campus community,” says Dr. Daniel Wubah, president of Millersville University. “We will use that robust, inclusive planning process and take it one step further with representation from all areas on campus. Our 2025 Strategic Plan will be created by all of the campus community, for all of the campus community.”
The AUC is being formed to enhance broad constituent input into the development of Millersville University’s 2025 Strategic Plan. A joint meeting between the AUC and the Strategic Advisory Council (SAC) will be held before the end of the semester.
The AUC will meet regularly during the 2019-20 academic year to learn about the proposed elements of the plan, share with their constituents to gather feedback, and report feedback to the AUC that will then be shared with the SAC and teams designing the main elements of the plan.
“Going forward, our EPPIIC Values will remain our foundation,” says Wubah. “The AUC will be tasked with reviewing and updating our current mission, vision, goals and performance measures. And, they will develop new strategic issues, objectives and strategies.” This new plan will enhance Millersville’s integrated planning process which will allow us to strategically focus all plans (i.e., campus master plan; divisional plans; Diversity, Equity & Inclusion plan) on our mission and vision.
There will be five phases for the planning process:
- Phase 1, August 26 to September 26, Refresh Mission Statement
- Phase 2, September 17 to October 25, Update Vision Statement
- Phase 3, October 18 to December 18, Identify Strategic Issues
- Phase 4, December 11, 2019 – Feb. 1, 2020, Design Goals and Objectives
- Phase 5, January 22, 2020 to March 7, 2020, Propose Strategies.
The 2025 plan will launch July 1, 2020.
