Love music? Then you won’t want to miss Millersville University’s (MU) third annual FestiVille on April 13. This year’s festivities will bring together bands from different colleges and universities in the area, including MU’s own rock bands from the Music Business Technology program for a jam-packed day of performances, food and fun.
The festivities will take place in and around MU’s Student Memorial Center (SMC) with performances on four different stages—in Marauder Courts, Reighard Multipurpose Room and the Atrium—and outside on the SMC Promenade.
“This year’s event is going to be exciting because so many local college bands are coming together to represent their schools and participate for a good cause,” says Dr. Barry Atticks, Music Business Technology professor at MU. “All money raised will go to support suicide prevention initiatives. Sadly, so many musicians and teens have taken their own lives recently, so I thought a concert that supports organizations that help prevent these tragedies would be a great outreach for MU. Seeing so many other schools joining us in solidarity is amazing.”
Seven college bands from the region will be part of the day’s lineup of approximately 35 musical acts. Local universities participating include: Millersville University, West Chester University, Harrisburg Area Community College, Albright College, York College, Franklin & Marshall College and Lebanon Valley College. In addition, many other outside bands that include both current MU students and alumni will participate.
FestiVille is sponsored and coordinated by Marauder Music Productions (MMP). Tickets cost $40 for general admission, $15 with a student ID and $10 with a MU ID. Tickets can be purchased at the SMC box office or online at www.studentservicesinc.com/uncategorized/youngthegiant/.
