Faculty/Staff Updates for January

Dr. Scott M. Helfrich recently presented a webinar through StudentAffairs.com titled Understanding Housing Public-Private Partnerships (P3) showcasing Millersville University’s housing as a model example. The webinar drew an audience of participants from the United States and Canada. Helfrich is a nationally-recognized thought leader on the management of student housing public-private partnerships having led the operations of three P3 student housing communities at three separate public institutions over the past 13 years.

For 10 years Helfrich worked for a publicly-traded, student housing development and management firm having earned numerous performance awards for revenue generation, budget management and overall property management. He trained colleagues from around the country on how to effectively foster relationships between campus administrators and management firm representatives. He has consulted and taught on the subject at national and regional professional conferences and institutes. He most recently served as a member of the Association of College & University Housing Officers – International’s (ACUHO-I) Public-Private Partnership Task Force. Helfrich also recently attended the “P3Bootcamp” in Washington, D.C. as sponsored by the National Council for Public-Private Partnerships (NCPPP).

Helfrich will speak on a panel of experts at the Association of College & University Housing Officers – International “State of the Profession” in Chicago at the end of the month.
