Bike Millersville is set for Sept. 15

Millersville University’s American Dream Scholarship initiative, along with four other local charities, are hosting the annual Bike Millersville Community Ride, a bike-friendly event, celebrating and showcasing the University’s efforts to attain a national ‘Bicycle Friendly’ designation. Other charitable organizations participating in the 2018 ride include No Longer Alone Ministries, New Hope Community Life Ministry, Faith Friendship Ministries and the Cy Fritz Foundation.

Participant check-in will begin at 6:30 a.m. and start-time for walkers and riders begins at 7:30 a.m., and will be held on the lawn of the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center, 60 W. Cottage Avenue, Millersville University campus.

Cyclists: 5, 10, 20, 30 and 60 mile rides; Walkers: 1, 2 and 6.5 mile routes. Registration deadline: 9/10/18. Rider registration fee: $35; walkers: $15 (for 1 or a group of 6). No on-site registration on event day. Cyclists must be 18 and wear a helmet. Included: cue sheets, support vehicles, food/rest stops and lunch.

The Millersville University goals of this benefit ride are to provide increase dollars for scholarships for Millersville University students so they may achieve their educational goals and affording them the opportunity to live the American Dream; support community awareness efforts on the environmental and health benefits of bicycling; showcase the Millersville region as a bicycling destination and to promote the University as a bicycle-friendly campus.  In 2017, American Dream Scholarships were awarded to five Millersville University students.
