Randy Gockley, the director of the Lancaster County Emergency Management Agency, has worked closely with Millersville University students, faculty and staff for many years. Gockley retired earlier this spring and was recognized and honored for his years of service and support of Millersville on May 11 at the external advisory board of the Center for Disaster Research and Education (CDRE). Going forward, Gockley has accepted and will serve on the CDRE external advisory board.
Gockley helped the University plan and prepare for emergencies, and implement emergency response measures for everything from severe weather events to natural gas leaks. He also mentored a number of students in the emergency management programs and those at CDRE.
He retired in April after 26 years serving the Lancaster County and Southeastern Pennsylvania region.
