President Anderson to Deliver Commencement Address

Dr. John M. Anderson will be the keynote speaker for the spring undergraduate commencement ceremony.

Millersville University (MU) President, Dr. John M. Anderson will be the keynote speaker for the spring undergraduate commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 12 at 10 a.m. on Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Anderson became the 14th president of MU in April 2013, after spending four years as the president of Alfred State College in Alfred, NY. He will retire in June of this year, after five years at Millersville.

He has been a strong advocate of community engagement and sustainability during his time at the helm, including the opening of MU’s first zero energy building, The Lombardo Welcome Center.  Among Anderson’s other achievements include closing a $10 million structural deficit as well as introducing three new doctoral programs.

In the Lancaster community, Anderson serves as a trustee on the board of Lancaster General Health. In addition, he serves on the Lancaster County STEM Alliance Advisory Board where he is also a member of the Rational Career Exploration Task Force.  Anderson previously served on the Board of Directors for the Economic Development Company of Lancaster County and the SCORE Advisory Board.

The graduate commencement is scheduled for Friday, May 11, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Pucillo Gymnasium.
