Coping with Crisis: Climate Change and Economic Transformation

The Paul J. McInerney Lecture in Earth Sciences.

The Paul J. McInerney Lecture in Earth Sciences has announced that Christian Parenti will be this year’s speaker. Parenti will present “Coping with Crisis: Climate Change and Economic Transformation” on Thursday, March 1 from 7 to 8 p.m. The lecture will take place in Clair Hall at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center at Millersville University.

Parenti’s lecture will cover climate change and his work as a journalist reporting from conflict zones hit by climate-change driven crisis. He will also be discussing his more recent research into American economic history, to examine the (likely) social and economic dislocations promised by climate change.

Parenti is an associate professor of economics at John Jay College, City University of New York. He has published many books including “Tropic of Chaos: Climate Change and the New Geography of Violence” and has reported from Afghanistan, Iraq and various parts of Africa, Asia and Latin America for The Nation, Fortune, The London Review Books, The New York Times and other publications.

The event is free but tickets are required. To receive your ticket go to the Millersville University Ticket Office or online at http://www.studentservicesinc.com/ticket-sales/.
