For the first time in program history, a Music Business Technology (MBT) course will be taught entirely at Clair Global in Lititz.
The course, Live Audio Production, is being offered for the first time this semester. A partnership between MU professor Dr. Barry Atticks and Dave Lester, Director of Education & Safety at Clair Global and new adjunct professor at MU, has allowed the course to try something new.
“We decided to hold the course at Clair Global so students can work with top live engineers and have hands-on training on the latest live audio equipment,” says Atticks.
Students had to apply for this section of the course and were selected by the MBT committee. The class was capped at 14 students to ensure the maximum hands-on experience. In addition to regularly scheduled class time, the course requires students to participate in all day seminars on Saturdays. The course will begin on Jan. 29.
Atticks says the course this spring is a trial, but if all goes well, he hopes to offer this specialized course every spring.
“We’re very excited for the possibilities of this course and the real-world experience our students will get working at Clair Global,” says Atticks.
